history
Birkach was first mentioned in a deed of donation dated July 16, 1058: The provost of Herrieden Heysso Monastery donated a number of goods from his inheritance to Herrieden Monastery, including a. in "Hohenberc, Stritdorf, Birchahe, Velden". However, it is controversial whether this is the Birkach, old community of Elbersroth.
Birkach was in the Fraisch district of the Ansbach Oberamt Feuchtwangen . In 1732 there were 10 properties with 11 teams. The landlords were the Stadtvogteiamt Feuchtwangen (1 property, 1 property with beer tap), the Eichstättische Vogtamt Aurach , indirectly Parish Elbersroth (1 yard with double crew, 3 estates) and the imperial city Dinkelsbühl (1 yard, 3 estates). By the end of the Old Kingdom nothing had changed in the circumstances. From 1797 to 1808 the place was subordinate to the Justice and Chamber Office Feuchtwangen .
With the community edict (early 19th century), Birkach was assigned to the Weinberg tax district and the Elbersroth rural community . On July 1, 1971, Birkach was incorporated into Herrieden as part of the regional reform .
