history

Until the church is planted

The village was first mentioned in the 8th century, making it older than most of the major cities in Bavaria. The discovery of much evidence of Celtic settlement activity shows that the area around the place was attractive even much earlier.

Buchs was first mentioned in a document in 759, when a "noble Chuniperth von Pohe" transferred the church "In Pohe" in his possession to the Freising Bishop. Even then, eight landable farmers were attached to this property. In 782 this property went to the Frauenchiemsee monastery as a founding gift. From the year 1237 and up to the secularization of the monastery in 1803 it was the largest Hofmark .

The parish has existed since 1818 as a result of the reforms of Count Montgelas .

21st century

The place celebrated its 1250th anniversary in 2009. The central celebration took place from May 15th to 17th, 2009. In addition to an approximately 2 km long historical pageant with more than 1250 participants, a historical warehouse was set up on the fairground, which accommodated up to 900 participants. An extensive program was offered to the visitors on the festival weekend.

Incorporations

Today's municipality was created on October 1, 1971 through the merger of the municipalities of Buch a.Erlbach and Garnzell. On May 1, 1978, the western part of Vilsheim was added.
