The Bundestag constituency Gütersloh I (constituency 131) is a constituency in North Rhine-Westphalia for the elections to the German Bundestag . It includes the district of Gütersloh without the town of Werther , which belongs to the Bundestag constituency Bielefeld - Gütersloh II , as well as without the town of Schloß Holte-Stukenbrock , which belongs to the Bundestag constituency Höxter - Gütersloh III - Lippe II . Up until the federal election in 2009 , the constituency was called 132 Gütersloh . Since its inception, the constituency has been won by the CDU in all elections .

In the 2009 federal election , Ralph Brinkhaus won the direct mandate for the CDU in the Gütersloh constituency. He thus succeeded Hubert Deittert (CDU), who was no longer a candidate. Klaus Brandner (SPD) and Heiner Kamp (FDP) also entered the Bundestag via the state lists of their parties.

Constituency history

The constituency was newly established in 1980 and until 2002 had constituency number 101. Until 1998 it comprised the entire Gütersloh district. Werther has not been part of the constituency since 1998 and Holte-Stukenbrock Castle since 2005. For the parliamentary elections 2013, the constituency was 131 Gütersloh I renamed.
