Calonge is a village and part of the municipality of Santanyí , which in turn is one of 53 independent municipalities on the Balearic Mediterranean island of Mallorca . The village is located in the south-east of the island and borders in the north-west with the village of Carritxó (municipality of Felanitx ), in the north-east with the village of S'Horta (Felanitx), in the south with Cala d'Or and Portopetro and in the south-west with s'Alqueria Blanca ( and subsequently the capital of the region, Santanyí).
Surname
The name of the place Calonge is said to come from the municipality of the same name Calonge, which is located in the Baix Empordà in the province of Girona in the autonomous community of Catalonia ( Spain ). This is derived from the fact that Gilabert de Cruïlles was one of the nobles who took part in the conquest of Mallorca in 1229.
Geography, location and language
The village of Calonge is located in the extreme southeast of Mallorca and is about 60 kilometers from the capital Palma and well connected by the road network. The village has (2017) a population of 894 people. The official languages are Catalan and Spanish . In the village, the national roads MA 4012 and 4013 meet and a little outside, in the direction of S'Horta, the MA 4016 coming from Carritxó and the MA 4012.

Trivia
The Hamburg hill is located in the geographical square between Calonge, Es Carritxó , Cas Concos and s'Alqueria Blanca . This is not an official name, but an ironic name for an area in which wealthy German citizens, formerly mainly from the area around Hamburg , have settled. The proportion of German citizens in the Santanyí region is 12.9%.
