The Chevrolet Universal Series AD was a lower middle class passenger car that was only manufactured by Chevrolet in model year 1930 as the only model series and successor to the International Series AC . The vehicle was introduced in January 1930 and was available with ten different bodies - six two-door and four four-door. The cars had the above-controlled six-cylinder in-line engines (OHV) of the predecessor. The engine with a displacement of 3179 cm³ developed an output of 46 bhp (34 kW) at 2600 min −1 . The engine power was transmitted to the rear wheels via a single-disc dry clutch and a manual three-speed gearbox. For the first time, all four wheels had mechanical drum brakes.

The sales prices had fallen to the level of the predecessor National and were between US $ 495 and US $ 685. After only 10 months and 864,243 copies, Chevrolet discontinued the Universal in favor of the new Independence Series AE .
