The Chevrolet Master Deluxe - as the Master was now called - had the new “turret top” all-steel bodies from Fisher Body Co. The suspension of the front wheels was also new in the EA series : They hung on coil-sprung swing arms based on the Dubonnet system instead of the previous rigid axle with semi-elliptical leaf springs. The old suspension was still available on request; the models were then called series ED . The wheelbase had grown by another inch to 2,870 mm.
In the following year, the cars were given a new, rounder radiator grille and steel spoke wheels as standard. They were called series FA (with Dubonnet axle in front) and series FD (with rigid axle in front). For the latter variant, it was the last year, since coil springs were then installed as standard. In 1939 the Master was renamed Master 85 Series JB . A longer bonnet and another modified grill made the vehicle appear new. The headlights, which were previously mounted on the side of the grille, moved to the front fenders. The convertible was omitted, instead a station wagon with 5 doors and 8 seats was offered. The Master Deluxe series JA also made the changes. In addition to the station wagon with 8 seats, there was also a version with 5 seats.
