The Corti Benedettine del Padovano are a wine-growing region in the metropolitan city of Venice , Italy . The hilly area to the southwest of Venice has enjoyed the status of a Denominazione di origine controllata (DOC for short) since June 21, 2004 . The last update was published on March 7, 2014.

Growing area

Cultivation and vinification may be carried out in the province of Padua in the following municipalities: Agna , Anguillara Veneta , Arre , Arzergrande , Bagnoli di Sopra , Bovolenta , Brugine , Candiana , Cartura , Casalserugo , Conselve , Due Carrare , Legnaro , Maserà di Padova , Pernumia , Piove di Sacco , Polverara , Ponte San Nicolò , Pontelongo , Sant'Angelo di Piove di Sacco , San Pietro Viminario , Terrassa Padovana and Tribano ; furthermore parts of the following municipalities belong to the cultivation area: Albignasego , Battaglia Terme , Codevigo , Correzzola, Monselice and Pozzonovo as well as parts of the municipalities of Cona and Cavarzere (both in the metropolitan city of Venice ).

The following types of wine are produced within this appellation:

Blended wines ( Cuvées )
  • Corti Benedettine del Padovano Bianco (also as sparkling wine ): must consist of at least 50% of the Tocai Friulano grape variety . A maximum of 50% other white grape varieties may be added (individually or together).
  • Corti Benedettine del Padovano Rosso (also called "Rosé" or " Novello "): must consist of 60–70% Merlot grapes and a maximum of 10% Raboso Piave and / or Raboso Veronese . A maximum of 30% other red grape varieties may be added (individually or together).
  • Corti Benedettine del Padovano Passito : must consist of at least 70% Moscato Giallo grape variety . A maximum of 30% other white grape varieties may be added (individually or together).
