The German qualification for the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 took place on March 9, 2006 as part of the gala show Der deutsche Vorentscheid 2006 - 50 Years of the Grand Prix at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg . In contrast to previous years, only three performers took part.

The television viewers voted Texas Lightning as the German participant in the 51st Eurovision Song Contest. The placement of the two losers was not published. In the final of the ESC in Athens in May , Texas Lightning took 14th place out of 24 participants.
