The nature reserve Former Quarries at Sönsberg, Lanzenberg and Kaucherbachtal is located in the area of ​​the municipality of Dahlem ( North Eifel) in the Euskirchen district in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The area, which consists of five sub-areas, extends northeast of the core town of Dahlem. The B 51 runs through the area. The state road L 110 runs to the west and the L 204 to the northeast.

For Dahlem, a 33.89 hectare area has been designated as a nature reserve under the identification number EU-089 since 1979 . The protection is provided to maintain and restore a near-natural stretch of flowing water in the former quarry area as a habitat and retreat for numerous endangered animal and plant species and their communities, in particular bird and insect species, amphibians and reptiles .
