The Regionalliga 1970/71 was the sixth season of the third-highest German ice hockey league under this name. The league was played in three regional groups: in addition to the North and South groups from the previous year, a South-West group was also played. Instead of the relegation rounds with the Oberliga as in previous years, the regional league champions and promoted players as well as successors in the Oberliga Oberliga were played in a final round. This won the 1b teams of the Düsseldorfer EG .

mode

The three regional groups played a single round. Subsequently, the teams in places 1 to 2 of the three groups played the final round to determine the regional league champions and direct climbers in the ice hockey league 1971/72 .

Attendees

The teams from Hertha BSC and EC Hannover 1b had withdrawn from the north group. The South-West group was newly formed from interested teams from the federal states of Baden-Württemberg, Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate.

In the south group, EV Füssen 1b and VER Selb had withdrawn from the regional league. In addition to the Bayern league champions EHC Klostersee, four other teams from Bavaria moved up.

After Eintracht Frankfurt withdrew, EV Regensburg was also able to move up to the top division.
