The 1985 Grand Prix was a 1985/86 season snooker tournament held at Reading's Hexagon Theater from October 19-27 , 1985 . After the introduction last year, it was the second edition of the tournament.
Debut winner Dennis Taylor from Northern Ireland reached the final for the second time and met world number one Steve Davis . The Englishman prevented the title defense and won in the decisive frame with 10: 9.

The top 32 of the world rankings were set for round 1. They played against the 32 professionals who had emerged from the qualification.
