Harth is a district of the municipality of Ruppichteroth in the Rhein-Sieg district in North Rhine-Westphalia .

geography

Harth lies at an altitude of approx. 190  m above sea level. NHN about one kilometer west of the Ruppichterother town center. Neighboring towns are Ahe in the west and Ruppichteroth in the east. Federal highway 478 runs south of the village .

history

The village of Harth appears for the first time in a map of the Ruppichteroth parish from 1646. The word "hard" comes from Old High German and means "forest". The place is located on an elevation called "Heilige Harth", the place name goes back to this field name. At that time there were two free goods in Harth, they had to provide two or one horses if necessary and each had to deliver a load of oats.

In 1809 Harth had 60 Catholic and 26 Lutheran residents.

In 1901 the village had 93 inhabitants. Attractions

A restored historical “Lambach pump” is on display in the village . From 1909, the villagers were able to use such a pump to pump their drinking water from the valley to the higher village. Before that, the water had to be fetched from a well.
