history
The place was first mentioned in a document in 1520 in a contract about a death knell between Hermann von Heiden called Hungeringhausen and Grete van Heselbecke . In 1518, Hungeringhausen killed Teves von Merrichus ( Merkausen ), the son of von Heselbecke, there in a dispute . On April 23, 1520 he concluded an atonement with the mother of the murdered man. Witnesses were u. a. Godemann von Mollenbeck ( Müllenbach ), the old Vogt of Gummersbach, and Heinrich in front of the stone from Gummersbach.

In the village there are the two sports clubs TV Dümmlinghausen-Hesselbach and FC Hesselbach .
