John Rhodes (born August 18, 1927 in Wolverhampton ) is a former British racing driver .

Career

John Rhodes drove regularly in Formula Junior in the early 1960s and won the Irish Formula Junior Championship in 1961 for the Midland Racing Partnership team .

In 1962 he continued to compete in Formula Junior races and now started for the team of the former Automboil World Championship driver Bob Gerard . In 1963 he moved again and denied his races for the team of Ken Tyrrell .

But Rhodes became known as a factory driver for Mini in the late 1960s. Rhodes contested his only Grand Prix at the 1965 British Grand Prix . Bob Gerard's old Cooper T60 was inferior to the competition and had an ignition problem throughout the weekend that Gerard Racing's mechanics could not solve. In the race, Rhodes fell far behind with misfires and had to give up prematurely.
