The men's 200-meter run at the 2002 European Athletics Championships was held on August 8 and 9, 2002 in the Munich Olympic Stadium.
The European champion was the Greek Olympic champion from 2000 and reigning world champion Konstantinos Kenteris . He won before the Portuguese World Cup third in 1999 Francis Obikwelu , who had won the 100-meter run two days earlier . Bronze went to the British Marlon Devonish .

Record improvement
European champion Konstantinos Kenteris improved the existing EM record in the final on August 9 by 26 hundredths of a second to 19.85 s.
