The men's triple jump at the 1993 World Athletics Championships was held on August 16 and 17, 1993 in the Gottlieb Daimler Stadium in Stuttgart .

The American Olympic champion in 1992 , Olympic second in 1984 , vice world champion in 1987 and World Cup third in 1991, Mike Conley Sr. won before the European champion in 1990 and vice world champion in 1991 Leonid Voloshin from Russia . Bronze went to the Briton Jonathan Edwards , who won his first major international medal here at the beginning of a great career.

qualification

August 15, 1993, 11:00 a.m.

45 participants competed in two groups for the qualifying round. The qualification distance for the direct entry into the final was 17.10 m. Four athletes exceeded this mark (highlighted in light blue). The final field was initially filled to twelve jumpers. Since two athletes were tied in twelfth place, nine other participants (highlighted in light green), a total of thirteen three-jumpers, reached the final behind the directly qualified athletes. Finally, 16.87 m had to be achieved to take part in the finals.
