Montfort is a municipality with 332 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in southern France . It belongs to the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region , the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department , the Forcalquier arrondissement and the Château-Arnoux-Saint-Auban canton . The residents call themselves Montfortains .
The community has a school and is agriculturally oriented. a. Cheese , olive oil , wine and honey made with Protected Designation of Origin ( AOC ). There are several bridges from the 18th century , a hermitage and the Saint-Donat church.

In the southeast, the Durance touches the municipality mark . The neighboring municipalities are Châteauneuf-Val-Saint-Donat in the north, Château-Arnoux-Saint-Auban in the northeast, Les Mées in the southeast, Peyruis in the south and Mallefougasse-Augès in the west.
Transport links
The Autoroute du Val de Durance , combined with the Autoroute A51 and the European route 712 , passes Montfort and contains the next connection in the municipality of Peyruis .
Population development
The community was so severely affected by rural exodus in the 19th and early 20th centuries that the number of inhabitants fell by more than two thirds between 1831 and 1931.
