Mison is a commune with 1,128 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence in the region Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Forcalquier and the Canton of Sisteron . The inhabitants call themselves Misonnais .
geography
The municipality is located around 40 kilometers southwest of Gap and 35 kilometers northwest of Digne-les-Bains on a ridge between the valleys of the Durance and the Buëch and protrudes far into the neighboring department of Hautes-Alpes .

- Le Poët in the east (Hautes-Alpes department),
- Sisteron in the southeast,
- Val Buëch-Méouge with Ribiers in the southwest (Hautes-Alpes department),
- Antonaves in the west (Département. Hautes-Alpes) and
- Châteauneuf-de-Chabre in the north-west (Hautes-Alpes department).
The eponymous place Mison is a small hamlet at the foot of a ruined castle with mighty fortifications. The municipality's capital and administrative seat is in Les Armands . At the western boundary of the municipality, the Buëch river strives towards the Durance, which it only reaches in Sisteron. The Durance itself does not touch the municipality, but an EDF power station canal , which branches off water from the Durance and directs it to a hydropower station in Sisteron.
Transport links
The community is accessed by the D1075 departmental road, which follows the Buëch river from Sisteron and finally leads to Grenoble . The railway line from Marseille to Grenoble also follows this route, but has no stop in Mison. The nearest train stations are in Sisteron and Laragne-Montéglin. In the extreme southeast of the municipality, the A51 motorway and D1085 département road in the Durancetal touch the municipality over a length of a few hundred meters.
