Peipin is a French commune with 1,464 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence in the region Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur . It belongs to the canton of Sisteron in the Forcalquier arrondissement .

The municipality is located on the Durance at an altitude of about 460 meters above sea level.

history

There is evidence that an oppidum existed at Peipin during the Iron Age . Peipin is located on the former Via Domitia .

At the beginning of the 13th century, a customs post was built in Peipin, which existed until 1758.
