Gréoux-les-Bains is a French commune , and a spa in the department of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence in the region Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur with 2,634 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017). It belongs to the canton of Valensole in the Forcalquier arrondissement .
geography
Gréoux-les-Bains is located in the southwest of the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department on the banks of the Verdon . On site, the Verdon is dammed into the “Barrage de Gréoux”. The municipality is part of the Verdon Regional Nature Park .

Economy and tourism
The thermal springs (42 ° C with magnesium and trace elements), which have been known since Celtic times , have been used intensively again since the 1960s, so that Gréoux-les-Bains is visited by over 30,000 guests during the spa season from March to November.
The Knights Templar castle dominates the townscape. It never belonged to the Knights Templar , but for a time to the Order of Malta . The ruin , classified as a monument historique , has been owned by the municipality since the early 1980s.
