Sainte-Tulle is a French commune with 3,408 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region . Sainte-Tulle is part of the Forcalquier arrondissement and the Manosque-3 canton . The inhabitants are called Tullésains .

geography

Sainte-Tulle is located about 62 kilometers north of Marseille on the Largue river . The EDF Canal , which is used by Électricité de France for power stations , also runs through the municipality . Sainte-Tulle is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Manosque in the north and northeast, Gréoux-les-Bains in the east, Corbières-en-Provence in the south and southwest and Pierrevert in the west and northwest.

Sainte-Tulle is located in the Coteaux de Pierrevert wine-growing region (AOC protected designation of origin). The former Route nationale 96 (today's D4096) and the Autoroute A51 run through the municipality .

history

The Saint-André Abbey in Villeneuve-lès-Avignon owned a priory (today's chapel) here from the 11th to the 15th century and the Notre-Dame church from the 13th century. In 1530 the Battle of Sainte-Tulle took place here during the Wars of Religion.
