Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards 1997
The 1997 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards (KCA) were held on April 19, 1997 at the Grand Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles . It was the 10th US award of blimps . These are orange, zeppelin-shaped trophies with the logo of the station Nickelodeon , which were awarded in 15 categories. In addition, actor Will Smith received the golden Hall of Fame Award . The ceremony was hosted by Rosie O'Donnell , who had already assisted Whitney Houston in single-player games the previous year . Former American football player Terry Bradshaw co-hosted the event.
Live performances
The band Savage Garden played the song I Want You and the trio Immature presented Watch Me Do My Thing . Jewel sang her song You Were Meant for Me . The rapper Coolio also performed .
Slime showers
Every year celebrities are given a green slime shower for amusement. Nickelodeon sees this as the highest honor. In 1997 it was Rosie O'Donnell's turn.
Categories
A vote could be taken in advance by telephone and by post. In advertising cooperations, cornflakes packs were included with phone cards, and voting slips could be filled out in the branches of the McDonald’s fast food chain .

Germany
In Germany - as in the previous year - an independent German award ceremony entitled Nick Award '97 was held in Hamburg on November 7, 1997 , at which the Backstreet Boys performed with Everybody (Backstreet's Back) . The award ceremony aired on November 23, 1997 and was hosted alongside the regular Nickelodeon presenters by Loretta Stern and rapper Der Wolf . The categories included, for example, favorite band, athlete, moderator, politician, book and cartoon.
