The Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards 1996 (KCA) found on 11 May 1996 in the Universal Studios Hollywood in Universal City in Los Angeles County instead. It was the ninth US award of blimps . These are orange, zeppelin-shaped trophies with the logo of the broadcaster Nickelodeon , which were awarded in 16 categories. In addition, the actor Tim Allen received the golden Hall of Fame Award . The ceremony was moderated by Whitney Houston , who had already carried out this task the previous year. Rosie O'Donnell was the field host on a ship in New York Harbor .

Live performances

Whitney Houston opened the show with her single I'm Every Woman . All-4-One sang the song These Arms and the band BoDeans presented their title Closer to Free .

Slime showers

For amusement, celebrities receive a green slime shower every year, which the Nickelodeon broadcaster understands as the highest appreciation. That year it was Queen Latifah's turn.

In Germany, for the first time, an independent German award was held with the title Nick-Verleihung '96 , at which, among others, Blümchen appeared with her debut single Herz an Herz . The ceremony was of flowers and the Nickelodeon presenters Ralf cooler moderated and Matthias Keller.
