Niedziały ( German  Elisenthal ) is a village in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship . It belongs to the Gmina Barciany (Barten) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ).

Geographical location

Niedziały is located in the northern center of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , seven kilometers southeast of Barciany and eleven kilometers north of the district town of Kętrzyn ( German  Rastenburg ).

history

The former Gut Elisenthal , known as Adlig Elisenthal before 1871 , was founded on March 19, 1824. It was a residential area of the rural community Wehlack ( Skierki in Polish ) in the district of Wehlack within the East Prussian district of Rastenburg . In 1885 there were 133 residents registered in Elisenthal, in 1905 there were 114.

On September 30, 1928, the Elisenthal estate gave up its independence and merged with the rural community of Wenden ( Winda in Polish ) and the Fünfhuben ( Niedziałky ) estate as well as parts of other neighboring towns to form the new rural community of Wenden.

In war-induced Elise valley in 1945 came with the entire southern East Prussia to Poland and the Polish form of the name "Niedziały" received today the village is a settlement in the network of rural community Barciany (Barten) in kętrzyn county (county Rastenburg ) until 1998, the Olsztyn province , since the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship .

In 2011 Niedziały had 138 inhabitants.

Until 1945 Elisenthal was parish in the Protestant church of Wenden in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and in the Catholic Church Rastenburg in the then diocese of Warmia .

Today Niedziały belongs to the Roman Catholic parish Winda in what is now the Archdiocese of Warmia , as well as to the Protestant parish of Barciany , a branch of the Kętrzyn parish in the Masurian diocese of the Evangelical Augsburg Church in Poland .

The village of Niedziały is located on a side road that connects Winda (Wenden) on Voivodship Road 591 (formerly German Reichsstraße 141 ) with Jankowice (Jankenwalde) and Wikrowo (Wickerau) .

A rail connection no longer exists. Until 1945 Elisenthal itself was a train station on the Rastenburg – Drengfurth railway , which was operated by the Rastenburger Kleinbahnen .
