Nuzéjouls is a French municipality with 372 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Lot in the Région Okzitanien (2015 Midi-Pyrenees ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Cahors and the community association Grand Cahors, founded in 2009 . The inhabitants are called Nuzéjoliens .
geography
The community is located about 13 kilometers northwest of Cahors on the upper reaches of the Ruisseau de Rouby , a right tributary of the Lot in the southwest of the Haut Quercy landscape in the southwestern foothills of the Massif Central . Neighboring communities are Boissières in the northeast and east, Calamane in the southeast, Espère in the south, Crayssac in the southwest and Catus in the west and northwest.
The districts of Pech Granie, Mas de Figeac, Mas d'Alary, Mas del Saltre, Mas de Ponsot, Mas de Bourdarie, Mas de Moles, Mas de Serres, Combel Haut, Lemozi and Pech de Feste belong to the municipality of Nuzéjouls .
Place name
According to the place name researcher Ernest Nègre , the place name originated from nuc, nux with the suffix -eolum , which denotes a walnut tree, and nucem with the suffix -ialo - a clearing. So the name could be translated as a walnut tree clearing . During the French Revolution (1793 to 1801) the place name was Nujezouls .

Economy and Infrastructure
In Nuzéjouls there is a kindergarten and a primary school, a bowling alley, tennis courts and a swimming pool for leisure activities. There are seven farms in the community, including a seed producer and several horse, sheep and goat farmers.
Nuzéjouls is located away from the nationally important traffic axes. The city of Cahors , 13 kilometers away, is a regional transport hub. There are connections to the trunk road and motorway network ( Autoroute A20 ). The Cahors train station is on the railway line from Paris to Sète with detours to Capdenac and Monsempron-Libos .
