Promilhanes ( Occitan Promilhanas ) is a French commune with 226 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Lot department in the Occitania region (previously Midi-Pyrénées ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Cahors , to the canton of Marches du Sud-Quercy (until 2015: canton of Limogne-en-Quercy ). The inhabitants call themselves Promilhanais .

Promilhanes lies at an altitude of approx. 390 meters above sea level. d. M. on the southwestern edge of the Massif Central in the area of the Causse de Limogne . The municipality is part of the Causses du Quercy Regional Nature Park . Promilhanes is surrounded by the neighboring communities Limogne-en-Quercy in the north and west, Puyjourdes in the north and northeast, Laramière in the east and southeast and Vidaillac in the south and southwest

economy
In the Haut-Quercy agriculture was traditionally practiced, which also included viticulture until the 19th century, but which was almost completely abandoned after the phylloxera crisis.
