Lalbenque is a French commune with 1,684 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Lot department in the Occitanie region . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Cahors and the canton of Marches du Sud-Quercy .
geography
The municipality is located around 15 kilometers southeast of Cahors , in the southwest corner of the Causses du Quercy Regional Nature Park . Neighboring municipalities to Lalbenque are:
- Laburgade in the north,
- Cremps and Escamps in the northeast,
- Vaylats and Belmont-Sainte-Foi in the east,
- Labastide-de-Penne in the southeast (already in the Tarn-et-Garonne department ),
- Belfort-du-Quercy in the south,
- Montdoumerc in the southwest,
- Fontanes to the west and
- Cieurac in the northwest.
Lalbenque is located at the junction of the limestone - plateau Causse de Limogne , in the countryside Quercy blanc , which are further south to the Garonne extends -Tal. While karst landscape and dry streams still predominate in the northwestern municipal area , the southern municipal area is already used intensively for agriculture. The Lemboulas River runs along the southern border .
Transport links
The place is away from major traffic connections and is accessed from the D19 département road. The A20 motorway runs just outside the western municipal boundary , as does the railway line from Montauban to Cahors , which operates the Lalbenque-Fontanes stop near the hamlet of Conquefaunes . The Aerodrome de Cahors-Lalbenque Airport also bears the name of the municipality, although it is not located in the municipality.
