Mercuès ( identical in Occitan ) is a French commune in the Lot department in the Occitania region . The municipality with 1,116 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) belongs to the arrondissement of Cahors and the canton of Cahors-1 (until 2015: canton of Cahors-Nord-Ouest ).
geography
Mercuès is located on the southwestern edge of the Massif Central on several loops of the Lot River that form the southern municipal boundary. The river loops are enforced by the western edge of the Cevennes . Mercuès is surrounded by the neighboring communities Espère in the north and northwest, Calamane in the north and northeast, Cahors in the east and southeast, Pradines in the south, Douelle in the southwest and Caillac in the west.
