PGA Grand Slam of Golf

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The PGA Grand Slam of Golf was the most exclusive golf tournament in the world. Participants were the four winners of the major tournaments consisting of the US Masters , US Open , Open Championship and PGA Championship . The tournament was organized by the PGA of America . The last event took place in 2014.

mode

The tournament lasts two days and is played over 36 holes. If a golfer wins more than one major, the one or those former winners of the major tournaments who have performed best in the majors in the year in question will be invited.

venue

From 1979 to 1993 the tournament was held in different places, with a few interruptions. From 1994 to 2006 it took place at the Poipu Bay Golf Course in Koloa, Hawaii on the island of Kaua'i . In 2007 the event moved to Bermuda , for two years at the Mid Ocean Club and then in 2009 and 2010 at the Port Royal Golf Course . Until 2006, the competition was held in November or December, since 2007 it has been held in mid-October, as the season in the USA ends earlier because of the FedEx Cup .

Doping

From 1991 to 2005, the prize money was US $ 1 million, with the winner accounting for US $ 400,000. After increasing to 1.25 million in 2006, the current endowment is US $ 1.35 million and US $ 600,000 for the winner. The prize money appears to be very low compared to many other tournaments in the course of the year, but you have to bear in mind that the fourth and last place in this tournament will also receive US $ 200,000. The prize money does not count towards the official money list.
