The Premijer Liga 2001/02 , which according to a sponsorship agreement is also called BHT Premijer Liga , was the first season of the highest Bosnian-Herzegovinian league in men's football . It started on August 5, 2000 and ended on June 13, 2001.

The FK Željezničar Sarajevo managed to become the first team ever to become Bosnian-Herzegovinian football champions in a unified, transnational league after an agreement was reached to merge the Premijer Liga with the Prva Liga NSHB .

In the following season 2001/02 had to stay FK Budućnost Banovići , NK Kiseljak , FK Rudar Kakanj , HNK Čapljina , HNK Ljubuški , FK Krajina Cazin and NK Đerzelez Zenica in the first division FBiH . NK Bosna Visoko and HNK Grude from the FBiH First League were intended to replace it .

In addition, the 2001/02 league operations were reduced from 22 to 16 teams.
