The music project between Mark Forster and Felix Jaehn came about through a chance meeting of the two artists on June 6, 2015 in Vienna . The project name comes from the pronunciation of the letter F , which is the first letter of Forster's surname and Jaehn's first name. The first rumors of a collaboration between the two flared up when they tweeted a picture together .

To date, there has been no official confirmation or a joint appearance by the two of them and their project. In an interview with the German radio station MDR Jump , Forster didn't want to know anything about Eff. When asked about the project, he replied with a grin: “Eff? I've never heard of What is that? ”In the end he confessed that he knew the song after all. He wouldn't like deep house music very much in general, but he thinks voice is a “pretty good song”.

After Jaehn's debut single Sommer am Meer from 2013, a number of English-language single releases and remixes followed . After almost three years, Stimm is the second German-language single release by Jaehn. After two pop albums, Forster is the first attempt in the field of deep house.

"Listen to the voice,
hear what it says,
it was always there,
come on, take its advice.

Listen to the voice,
it makes you strong,
it wants you to do it,
so listen to what it tells you. "

- Refrain, original excerpt

With the exception of one word, the lyrics to voice are written in German. It contains the English verb lost . The music was composed by Mark Forster, Felix Jaehn and Philipp Steinke; the text was written by Forster and Jaehn. Musically, the song moves in the realm of house and pop music . The singing of the song comes from Mark Forster alone, Jaehn only acts as a DJ. Christophe Vitorino del Almeida and Philipp Steinke were hired as additional instrumentalists on the keyboards.

In the interview with MDR Jump mentioned above, Forster allowed himself to be led into the following interpretation of the text: “The voice is probably between the stomach and the head. I have something inside of me. I don't know whether this is my Polish mother or my grandmother from the Palatinate . Something inside of me always tells me, go there! Don't do that! ' and so. ”His inner voice always means well with him and he suspects that the project was also thinking something similar.
