The Verbandsgemeinde Neuerburg was an administrative unit in the legal form of a regional body in the Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm in Rhineland-Palatinate . The municipality of the association included the city of Neuerburg and 48 independent local communities , the administrative seat was in the eponymous city of Neuerburg.

On July 1, 2014, the Irrel community was incorporated, whereupon the community was renamed the Southern Eifel community .

The Verbandsgemeinde Neuerburg was founded in 1970.

On December 20, 2013, the Rhineland-Palatinate state government passed a state law integrating the Irrel community into the Neuerburg community on July 1, 2014. This was then renamed the Southern Eifel community .
