The Wyschtscha Liha 1997/98 ( Ukrainian Вища ліга ) was the 7th edition of the highest Ukrainian league in men's football . The season began on July 9, 1997 and ended on June 16, 1998.

Sixteen teams played against each other twice over a total of 30 match days, divided into a first and a second round. Defending champions Dynamo Kiev won the sixth league title in a row. The teams in the last two places were relegated to the Perscha Liha .
