Abraham P. Stephens

Abraham P. Stephens (born February 18, 1796 in New City , New York , † November 25, 1859 in Nyack , New York) was an American lawyer and politician . Between 1851 and 1853 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Abraham P. Stephens was born near New City in the late 18th century. He was a justice of the peace. Politically, he belonged to the Democratic Party . In the 1850 congressional elections for the 32nd Congress , Stephens was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the seventh constituency of New York , where he succeeded William Nelson on March 4, 1851 . Stephens retired from the after March 3, 1853 Congress of. He died in Nyack on November 25, 1859 and was then buried in Oak Hill Cemetery .
