Henry Glen

Henry Glen (born July 13, 1739 in Schenectady , Province of New York , † January 6, 1814 there ) was an American politician . Between 1793 and 1801 he represented the state of New York in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Henry Glen grew up during the British colonial era. He was from February 27, 1767 to March 11, 1809 as an office worker ( clerk ) in Schenectady County . During this time he served as Deputy Quartermaster General in the War of Independence . He served in the First, Second, and Third Provincial Conventions between 1774 and 1776, and in the New York State Assembly in 1786 and 1787 . Politically, he belonged to the pro-administration group .

In the congressional elections of 1792 for the 3rd Congress , Glen was elected in the eighth constituency of New York to the US House of Representatives, which was then still in Philadelphia , where he began his service on March 4, 1793 as the first representative of the district in the US House of Representatives . In the following time he joined the Federalist Party . As a candidate for this party, he was then re-elected to the three following congresses. He retired from the after March 3, 1801 Congress of.

After his time in Congress, he was back in the New York State Assembly in 1810. He died on January 6, 1814 in Schenectady.
