Cornelius Warren

Cornelius Warren (born March 15, 1790 in Phillipstown , New York , † July 28, 1849 in Cold Spring , New York) was an American lawyer and politician . Between 1847 and 1849 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Cornelius Warren was born in Phillipstown about seven years after the end of the Revolutionary War , and studied and completed his undergraduate studies. He studied law , got his lawyer license, and then started practicing. In 1841 he was appointed judge on the Court of Common Pleas . Politically, he belongs to the Whig Party . In the congressional elections of 1846 for the 30th Congress he was elected in the eighth constituency of New York to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , where he succeeded William W. Woodworth on March 4, 1847 . He retired from the after March 3, 1849 Congress of. He died on June 28, 1849 in Cold Spring and was then buried in the Old Cemetery . At that point the Mexican-American War had ended for about a year and a half.
