Charles Grosvenor Bond (born May 29, 1877 in Columbus , Ohio , † January 10, 1974 in Bound Brook , New Jersey ) was an American lawyer and politician . Between 1921 and 1923 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives . Congressman Charles Henry Grosvenor was his uncle.

Career

Charles Grosvenor Bond was born and raised in Columbus before the Nez Percé War . During this time he attended public schools and graduated from the law school of Ohio State University in 1899 . He was admitted to the bar that same year and then began practicing in Columbus. In 1903 he moved to New York City , where he continued to work as a lawyer. Politically, he belonged to the Republican Party .

In the 1920 congressional election for the 67th Congress , Bond was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the eighth constituency of New York , where he succeeded William E. Cleary on March 4, 1921 . In 1922 he was defeated in his re-election bid and was eliminated from the after March 3, 1923 Congress of.

After his time at Congress, he resumed his practice as a lawyer. He also did banking. He suffered a defeat when he ran for president in the borough of Brooklyn in 1926 . He attended the 1936 Republican National Convention in Cleveland as a delegate . Between 1934 and 1970 he was a member of the New York City Alcoholic Beverage Control Board and between 1960 and 1970 he chaired it. He then retired. He died on January 10, 1974 in Bound Brook. His body was cremated and the ashes were interred in West Union Cemetery in Athens, Ohio.
