background information

In Au revoir this is not the first collaboration between Forster and Sido. Forster is already involved in three songs on Sido's album 30-11-80, which was released in November 2013 . Somebody is waiting for the songs Somewhere and one of these stones Forster works as a guest singer and author. The song Somewhere Waiting for Somebody was only released on the album, the song One of these stones was released as a single and reached the Top 10 in Germany and Switzerland, as well as the Top 20 in Austria. Forster is involved as the author of the song Fühl dich frei , the song was placed on position 99 of the German single charts due to high individual downloads.

content

With the exception of the repeated words "Au revoir" ( French "Goodbye"), the lyrics are in German. The music was written by Mark Ćwiertnia, Ralf Christian Mayer, Daniel Nitt and Philipp Steinke, the text by Ćwiertnia, Sido and Steinke. Musically, the song moves in the realm of rap and pop music . The song was recorded in two versions, a solo version by Forster and one with Sido. The difference lies in the text and in the fact that the second stanza in the duet version is rapped by Sido. Forster (Ćwiertnia) himself describes the title Au revoir as a kind of departure and not as a farewell. The texts for the special versions for the soccer World Cup 2014 have been completely repositioned.

“There is nothing that holds me - au revoir,
forget who I was, forget my name.
It will never be the same again,
I'm gone, oh oh (oh oh), au revoir. "

- Refrain, original excerpt

Music video

The music video for Au revoir premiered on April 17, 2014 on Ampya . In the music video, Forster (Ćwiertnia) and Sido are supported by the actors Erdal Kacar (father), Tyrell van Boog (night club-goer) and Lili Zahavi (Maya). The total length of the video is 3:47 minutes. Kim Frank is the director and producer . To date, the music video has over 42 million views on YouTube (as of September 2018).

The video begins with 16-year-old Maya who gets into an argument with her parents. Her parents are of the opinion that at 16, she doesn't need any more freedom. Maya leaves the living room with the words "I shit on my home, I shit on you and all the shit here". She escapes to her room, where at first she doesn't know what to do. Suddenly she jumps up, packs her things, grabs her money and jewelry. She runs away from her home and throws away her key. She then pledged her jewelry and enjoyed the following freedoms with the money: hitchhiking , dancing on a skyscraper, getting a tattoo herself , driving a motorboat, flying an airplane, dancing as a go-go dancer in a nightclub and having a one-night stand . In the end she drives her motorcycle to a ballet audition . In between, Forster can be seen singing the song again and again, sometimes together with Sido, on the same theater stage in the Meistersingerhalle in Nuremberg . The story of Maya is continued in the music video on stomach and head .
