Bages ( Catalan: Bages de Rosselló ) is a French commune in the department of Pyrenees-Orientales in the region Occitania . Bages belongs to the Arrondissement of Céret and the canton of La Plaine d'Illibéris . The 4174 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) of the municipality are called Bagéen (ne) s .
geography
Bages is about ten kilometers south of Perpignan and immediately below (south) the Lac de Villeneuve-de-la-Reho . Bages is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Pollestres in the north and north-west, Montescot in the north and east, Elne in the east and south-east, Ortaffa in the south-east, Brouilla in the south, Villemolaque in the west and south-west and Nyls in the west and north-west.
Here, in the Côtes du Roussillon wine region , u. a. the Muscat de Rivesaltes is also grown.
