Chatillon-en-Diois is a French municipality with 666 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Drôme in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Die and the canton of Le Diois . The inhabitants are called Châtillonais .

It was created as the Commune nouvelle of the same name with effect from January 1, 2019 through the amalgamation of the previous municipalities of Châtillon-en-Diois and Treschenu-Creyers , which have the status of a Commune déléguée in the new municipality . The administrative headquarters are in Châtillon-en-Diois .

geography

Châtillon-en-Diois is located around 50 kilometers southeast of Valence in the Vercors Regional Nature Park . The municipality is crossed by the Bès river , a tributary of the Drôme .

Neighboring municipalities are: Chichilianne in the north, Percy and Le Monestier-du-Percy in the northeast, Saint-Maurice-en-Trièves in the east, Glandage and Boulc in the southeast, Menglon in the south, Saint-Roman in the southwest and Laval-d'Aix in the West and northwest.

The municipality gives its name to the small wine-growing region of Châtillon-en-Diois .
