Léoncel is located about 34 kilometers east-southeast of Grenoble . The municipality belongs to the Vercors Regional Nature Park . Léoncel is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Beauregard-Baret in the north and north-west, Oriol-en-Royans in the north and north-east, Bouvante in the east and north-east, Omblèze in the south-east, Le Chaffal in the south, Peyrus in the south-west, Saint-Vincent-la-Commanderie and Barbières to the west and Rochefort-Samson to the west and northwest.
