The Catalan Culture Prize Creu de Sant Jordi is the Generalitat de Catalunya’s highest award for natural or legal persons who have made a contribution to the Catalan language or culture.

The award is named after the cross of St. George , the patron saint of Catalonia . The award is based on decree 457/1981 of December 18, 1981 and takes place annually by the President of the Generalitat de Catalunya in the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya .
