The FK Tom Tomsk ( Russian Футбольный клуб Томь Томск Futbolny Klub Tom Tomsk , scientific transliteration Futbol'nyj Klub Tom 'Tomsk ) is a Russian football club from the West Siberian city ​​of Tomsk .

history

The club was founded in 1957 and competed under different names in the following years. Initially the team was called Burewestnik , but quickly changed its name to Tomitsch . In the third year of its existence, the association with Sibelektromotor received its third name, which only existed until 1960, when the association was renamed Tomitsch . 1964 to 1967 and again from 1974 to 1978, the team competed as a torpedo . In between, the club was renamed Tomles . From 1979 the club started as Manometr and received its current name in 1987, after the river Tom .

Until the collapse of the Soviet Union , the club could not achieve greater success. When the new Russian league was founded in 1992, the club was classified in the first division , the second division. In 1993 he had to relegate to the third class. It wasn't until the mid-1990s that things started to get better. In 1996 the team reached second place in the third Russian division and only just missed promotion to the second division. In the following year 1997 the promotion to the second Russian league succeeded.

In 2004, when he was runner-up in the second division, he was promoted to the top division of Russia. That was Tom's greatest success so far, which happened in the year of the city's 400th anniversary. The club played in the following period in the Premjer League and reached tenth place with head coach Anatoly Byschowez in his first season in 2005 . During the 2008 season , FK Tom got into financial difficulties, so that the dissolution of the club could only just be averted. The best result was achieved in 2006 and 2010 with eighth place in the table. After the 2011/12 season , the team from Tomsk rose from the top division, but achieved immediate promotion in the following season as runner-up of the Perwenstwo FNL.

In 2014 Tomsk had to relegate against FK Ufa , lost to the club from Bashkiria after a 5-1 away defeat and a 3-1 home win and again relegated to the second-rate Perwenstwo FNL. At the end of the 2014/15 season , the club reached a relegation place, but lost the game in the home stadium 0-1 against Ural Yekaterinburg , only drew 0-0 away and thus remained in second place. In 2015/16 the team again secured a relegation place, played for the third time in a row to remain or promotion to the highest Russian football league and returned to the Premjer League after two games (0: 1 and 2: 0) against Kuban Krasnodar . In the winter break of 2016/17, the club ran into financial difficulties again. Wages arrears amounted to 460 million rubles . Most of the top performers then left the club. Relegation was certain three game days before the end of the 2016/17 season .

Stadion

The club plays its home games in the 15,000-seat Trud Stadium , which was built in 1929. In spring 2008 the stadium was rebuilt in accordance with the regulations of the Russian league.
