Oberliga Baden-Württemberg 1979/80
2nd Bundesliga South 1980/81

The football league Baden-Württemberg 1980/81 was the third league season.

The SV Sandhausen secured by a single point on the last year's champion the amateurs from VfB Stuttgart the championship. Due to the conversion from a double-track to a single-track 2nd Bundesliga for the 1981/82 season, there were no promoters from the top leagues this year. Sandhausen then took part in the German amateur championship final, in which the team lost to 1. FC Paderborn in the first round .

1. FC Eislingen , DJK Konstanz and SV Neckargerach , SC Pfullendorf and VfR Aalen , which had only been promoted from the association league last year, were relegated to the subordinate leagues . In return, FV Lauda from the Baden Association League , SV Kuppenheim from the Südbaden Association League and Sportfreunde Schwäbisch Hall from the Württemberg Association League rose as the respective relay champions. SSV Ulm 1846 and VfB Eppingen were relegated from the dissolved 2. Bundesliga South .
