The season 2016/17 of the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg was the 39th season of the soccer Oberliga Baden-Württemberg and the ninth as the fifth highest division in Germany.

Promotion and relegation regulation

  • Promotion to the Regionalliga Südwest
The champion is athletically qualified for promotion to the Regionalliga Südwest . The second can qualify in a relegation. If the champion or runner-up is not eligible for promotion, the next-placed teams move up, with at least fourth place in the table for direct promotion and at least fifth for relegation.
  • Relegation to the association leagues
The last three clubs are relegated to the association leagues. Depending on the relegation from the Regionalliga Südwest, up to six clubs can be relegated. If there are no relegated regional leagues from Baden-Württemberg and the second in the relegation team wins, the number of direct relegated teams is reduced to two teams.

    2The game SV Spielberg - FV Ravensburg, which was canceled on matchday 10 when the score was 2: 4, was rated 3: 0. The game was stopped in the 77th minute by referee Jakob Paßlick after linesman Najib Nasser was racially insulted by fans from the guest block and thrown hazelnuts. The sports court of the WFV then rated the abandonment of the game with 3: 0 and a fine of 500 €.

    The last promotion place played the three runners-up of the association leagues Baden, Südbaden and Württemberg. The South Baden and Baden runners-up first met in two games, before the winner of the duel determined the fourth promoted to the league in two games against the vice-champion of the Württemberg Association.
