The Schleswig-Holstein Association League was held for the 55th time in the 2001/02 season and formed the substructure of the fourth-class Hamburg / Schleswig-Holstein Oberliga. The first-placed team rose directly, while the second-placed team had to play relegation games against the runner-up from the Association League Hamburg (depending on the relegated from the Regionalliga Nord). The teams in the last three places had to relegate to the district league.

Compared to the 2000/01 season , the composition of the league changed as follows: Husumer SV, Flensburg 08 and FC Kilia Kiel were in the Oberliga Hamburg / Schleswig-Holstein, while no team from Schleswig-Holstein was in the Oberliga Hamburg / Schleswig-Holstein was relegated to the Association League. The two relegated players had left the association league and were promoted by the five promoted TSV Fahrdorf (re-promotion after two seasons), VfB Lübeck II (re- promotion after 30 years), PSV Union Neumünster (re- promotion 21 years after the relegation of FC Union Neumünster ), FT Eider Büdelsdorf and FSV Borussia Lübeck (both for the first time in the highest amateur league in Schleswig-Holstein) replaced.

Season course

The second team from Holstein Kiel secured the championship and direct promotion to the Hamburg / Schleswig-Holstein Oberliga. The second-placed TSB Flensburg had to play promotion games against the second in the Association League Hamburg , where he was defeated by Altona 93 . In the end, however, both rose. The last four teams had to relegate from the association league: TSV Fahrdorf after one season, MTV Frisia Lindholm after two seasons, Eckernförder SV after three years and TSV Lindewitt after four years.
