Hilkka Riihivuori (born December 24, 1952 in Jurva ; maiden name Kuntola ) is a former Finnish cross-country skier who was active in the 1970s and early 1980s.
Career
Riihivuori had her first international success at the 1972 Winter Olympics in Sapporo . There she won silver with the relay. In addition, she was eighth over 10 km and fifth over 5 km. At the Lahti Ski Games in 1972, she won second place in the 10 km run and in the relay. At the Svenska Skidspelen she took second place over 10 km in 1972 and third place over 5 km in 1973. At the Lahti Ski Games in 1973, she won the relay. In addition, she came in third place in the 10 km run. In 1974 she won the 10 km run at the Holmenkollen Ski Festival for the first time . At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1974 in Falun , she was fourth in the relay. With the relay she finished third at the Lahti Ski Games in 1974 and 1976, and second in 1975. At the 1976 Winter Olympics , she won silver again with the relay. She also took ninth place over 10 km and fourth place over 5 km. The following year she won the Holmenkollen Ski Festival over 5 km and was honored with the Holmenkollen Medal . At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti in 1978 and at the same time Lahti Ski Games, she won the bronze medal over 10 km, the silver medal over 5 km and the gold medal with the relay. Two years later she won the silver medal at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid over 5 km and over 10 km. She finished fifth with the season. In the same year she won the Lahti Ski Games in the 10 km run and the Holmenkollen Ski Festival over 5 km and 10 km. In her last active season in 1981/82, she finished 12th in the overall ranking of the Cross-Country World Cup . At the highlight of the season, the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oslo in 1982 , she won bronze over 20 km and silver over 5 km and 10 km. She was fourth with the season. From 1980 to 1982 she was athlete of the year in Finland three times in a row .
Riihivuori is the cousin of the former Finnish biathletes Erkki Antila and Keijo Kuntola .
