The men's decathlon at the 1974 European Athletics Championships was held on September 1 and 2, 1974 in the Olympic Stadium in Rome .

European champion was Ryszard Skowronek from Poland . He won in front of the French Yves Leroy. Bronze went to the German decathlete Guido Kratschmer .

values
: For orientation and classification of the performance, the points achieved in 1985 according to the current evaluation system are also listed. After that, there would only have been one change in the result: the athletes on ranks thirteen and fourteen would have had to swap places. But these comparisons are only indicative, because the different standards of the time must apply as a basis.
