The javelin men in the 2014 European Athletics Championships was held on 14 and 17 August, 2014 at the Letzigrund Stadium in Zurich held.
In this competition the Finnish javelin throwers won two gold and bronze medals. European champion was the 2012 Olympic runner-up Antti Ruuskanen . Second place went to the Czech defending champion, the 2012 Olympic bronze medalist and reigning world champion Vítězslav Veselý . Bronze went to the world champion from 2007 , vice world champion from 2013, Olympic third from 2008 , vice European champion from 2006 and EC third from 2010 Tero Pitkämäki .

qualification
32 participants competed in two groups for the qualifying round. The qualification distance for direct entry into the final was 81.00 m. Four athletes exceeded this mark (highlighted in light blue). The final field was filled with the eight athletes placed next to twelve throwers (highlighted in light green). In the end, 78.22 m had to be achieved to take part in the finals.
