The men's 400-meter hurdles at the 1999 World Athletics Championships took place from August 24 to 27, 1999 in the Olympic Stadium in the Spanish city ​​of Seville .

World champion was the Italian European Championship third from 1998 Fabrizio Mori . He won in front of the French defending champion Stéphane Diagana , third in the 1995 World Cup and third in the European Championship in 1994 . Bronze went to the Swiss Marcel Schelbert .
